Being born and growing up in Cheltenham I previously trained to become a barber and worked as one for 10 years. Although it allowed me an opportunity to develop my communication skills and engage with people on a daily basis, I have always felt passionately about helping others and have found this to be rewarding.
Additionally, being active has been a major part of my life. Playing football, rugby, jujitsu and water polo as I grew up and now enjoying regular walks and the gym have been ways by which I look after my mental health; a subject I have always found fascinating. My ambition to build a rewarding career helping others alongside my interest in mental health, noting how important it is and how it can be impacted by so many things, led me down the path of a counsellor.
I trained as a counsellor, working as a barber part time as I studied to become fully qualified and build my business. The qualifications I now hold today as a result of that allow me to work as an integrative counsellor. This means that I use bothPerson-centred and Psychodynamic approaches.
The qualifications I hold are listed below
CSK-L2 Counselling Skills (Level 2)
CST-L3 Counselling Studies (Level 3)
TC-L4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (level 4)
Most recently I have spent the last year working with Young Gloucestershire to support young adults in their counselling journey, working with a diverse group of people to bring counselling to individuals that otherwise may not have the support they need. Counselling is an invaluable tool to create a safe, trusting, confidential and non-judgemental space in which you can explore topics of your choice and bringing the unconscious into consciousness.
